Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
I made a decent rear hitch and use it to move farm equipment around the sheds or yard. You want the tongue weight adding traction to the drive wheels, [also the braking wheels] especially since you mentioned a grade or hill. You also want the hitch ball in your case as close to the rear axle as possible for maximum control and steering so not to have the trailer steering the cart so to speak. I back up wagons, trailers, spreaders, tillage equipment and harvesters ect, hundreds of times a year and have rarely ever felt the need/ want to hook them to the front of a tractor, truck or my cart.

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
The main use case for this is ease for parking my boat on the side of the house. Its a tight spot due to the T-top and roof overhang so I figure it would be easier with a front hitch instead of the rear hitch on my truck that I have been currently using.
Thanks for all of the feedback! |

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
Still trying to find a solution that can support the tongue weight of an 18 foot center console...if any.

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
Tongue weight of an 18' center console can vary quite a bit depending on the boat, the trailer, and its position on the trailer. Any idea what it is?

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
18 ft Hydra-sport, t-top, 90 yamaha on a single axle trailer. Weight of the boat dry is 1500 (add ttop) maybe 1650.

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
Look up grizzly metal works.
They make a heavy duty brush guard with a receiver I think. |

Re: Front Hitches to Park Boat
Here is the one from Grizzly Metalwork - https://grizzlymetalworks.com/collec...r-brush-guards
Looks pretty beefy. Trying to find some information on how it is mounted but in the mean time going to go with a rear hitch to see if that will solve the problem and if not go with the grizzly. Thanks for the feedback everyone. |
