G2 solenoid question
I have looked at the wiring diagram and it looks like a 10 amp fuse is also on the neg side also going to where you plug charger in.
I get pack voltage (37.8 v ) on the small R/W wire when I push pedal but no click on solenoid. It sends pack voltage to the other small black wire on solenoid also when I connect my meter to the other side of small terminal, just no click. . That black wire on terminal of solenoid heads back up to charger receptacle and that fuse might be the cause but where is it located ? I called myself standing on my head looking for it but so far I don't see it. Could I remove the small black wire on solenoid and use a jumper wire connected to neg side of pack to see if the solenoid will click when push pedal ? The one I showed with yellow arrow. Don't want to mess up anything but my thinking it would complete the circuit and tell for sure my solenoid is good which I think it is. The starter motor will work if I jump across the large posts . I know ezgo has the reed switch that will cause the same issue if bad but not sure how these were set up. I am leaning toward the fuse but I might be wrong. I will know more tomorrow when I test for continuity on the charge port neg side to this wire that goes on solenoid. . Of course with battery cables disconnected. |

Re: G2 solenoid question
I found the fuse holder pulled apart and fuse missing. One of the batteries moved and knocked it apart.
The solenoid now works. I used a regular 10 amp fuse for now but the one I removed from the positive side looks much different than this one I installed that was used on older vehicles. Is there any difference in the 12 volt 10 amp fuses and those used on 36 volt golf carts ? |

Re: G2 solenoid question
I dont know if there's a difference worth worrying about, and I been using automotive ones for years with no trouble.

Battery box seems to be almost history. Got to fabricate one in the next few weeks or these batteries are going out the bottom |

Re: G2 solenoid question
Why would they put a fuse on the negative side ?

Re: G2 solenoid question
There are fuses on both sides. Maybe to protect from internal starter generator/voltage regulator shorts?

Re: G2 solenoid question
Thanks, all I could find in my shop was a 15 amp so that's the one I put in. At first the solenoid wouldn't work. I then remembered when I was checking for continuity I had unplugged the black wire near charger receptacle It is now running like a clock :)
I hate getting old. I forgot to do things on occasion |
