Charging Time
I have a 2008 Precedent 48v with the charger wired directly to the cart. When I plug the cord into the wall, the charger comes on and charges the batteries until it cuts off. Depending on the use prior to placing on charge, the time can vary. However, when the charger shuts off, if I immediately place the cart back on charge, it takes a significant amount of time to charge again. The charger amp meter shows 5 amps or more when I plug it in. Is this normal? What kind of charging time would be expected for the charger to shut off when re-charging a cart that just came off charge?

Re: Charging Time
You really shouldn't "recharge" a pack that just completed a full charge, except every few months for an equalization charge. This will damage the plates and cause premature deterioration.
The amperage is low because (based on charger you have) the pack is already at a full SOC and it is either low amperage because voltage is already high or it is in a "Finishing-Topoff" phase. |
