Default Low pack voltage

I have a 2008 club car precedent with 4-12 volt batteries. After the cart is charged and I take it for a drive I am only getting around 40 volts while driving? Any help would be appreciated.

You'll need to check the voltage of each battery while the cart is driving. At least one of them is dead.
How old are the batteries?
Have you checked the water level in them?
Simple answer is they're on the way out. If they are more than 3 years old, you've pretty much reached the end of their service life.
The 4x12 packs don't tend to last as long as a 6x8v pack because of lower Amp Hour capacity. Lower capacity means shorter run times and shorter overall service life.

Good call. I will check each battery individually. Water level is correct. They charge all the way. The charger shuts off at about 57.7 volts.

Here is the update. Took the cart for a 1.5 mile drive. Checked all batteries individually With the throttle fully pressed each battery had about the same reading. Around 12.3 before starting. Once I was in motion the read out was 9.6 to 10.6. Once I was back home and checked the pack it was about 48.1.

What would the reading be on a good pack while driving?

Here's a good table from Scotty although it doesn't give the individual under load readings. Note the last line which states that the under load voltage for a 48V pack should never drop below 42V.

For a comparison, my 48V pack (6x8V) never drops below about 47V while under load over 18 holes of golf.

Sounds like a good time to consider the Lithium upgrade! You’ll not regret it.
I made the switch this year using 14 Nissan Leaf modules and am extremely happy with the results. I only charge once every 10 days or so and am getting 30 to 35 miles per charge out of cells that were said to have ~70% capacity. I spent ~1850 and expect I will get 6 - 10 years out of the pack at which time I will only have to replace the cells and not the rest of the equipment. That will be about the same as 4 new 12V lead acid batteries at that time.
There are many extremely knowledgable members (Sergio, cgtech, scottyb, Bob Boyce, usgicollector, Pingeye3.....) on here that are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and there are also many threads with drawings, discussions and pictures.
Good luck!
