Sun classic still slow

My G3 Yamaha Sun Classic is still slow after replacing the batteries and cables. It is better but not quite right. Can someone recommend a controller kit for this older cart. Pretty sure it will be similar to a G1 series. Thanks up front.

You would have to get a series cart conversion kit, and modify it that way. It takes a good bit of requiring, but it’s worth it.

Also, keep in mind that G3 has a slightly higher (numerically) gear ratio than most carts, so your speeds will be a tad lower than the speeds suggested by the motor distributor.

And, no controller kit will make your stock motor faster, that's just not how series motor systems work.

In your current configuration, When your at full throttle, it's a direct connection from the batteries, through the cables & solenoid, to the motor. No motor controller can offer a series motor "even better than a direct connection to the batteries" as it pertains to top speed.

If you think your gonna go any faster with your stock motor, your barking up the wrong tree.

Good points from cgtech. The only speed improvements will come from bigger tires (not possible on a Sun Classic,) higher voltage, or an upgraded motor.

I did both 48v and a speed motor in mine.

The motor type you may be thinking of is a "sepex" motor system. In a stock G19e (48v Sepex), a controller upgrade will nearly double top speed (from 12-14mph to 24mph) by completely eliminating the speed limitations built into the stock controller. But on a "series" motor, that's just not how it goes.
