Looking to have motor rebuilt
I have a 2001 Club Car DS 48V. It has a 6" A-Arm AllSports lift with 23" tires. I have the 500A Alltrax controller, 4 gauge cables, HD solenoid, and HD F/R switch. I am currently running the D&D 4:2A motor, which is their "torque" motor. I live in Western Pa, so not much flat ground here. I can get 17-18mph on flat ground (plenty for me). The problem is when going up hills, it will slow down to 10-12 mph and my batter voltage will drop into the 43.xxV range. New trojan T875 batteries as of March 2020. I am looking to send my old stock motor off to have someone rebuild it and hopefully allow me to maintain some speed while going up hills. I am aware that losing speed on hills is a given, but losing that much speed is frustrating at best.
Anyone have any recommendations for motor rebuilds?? |

Re: Looking to have motor rebuilt
I a not sure it can be rebuilt for what you need. You need a torque motor more than a speed motor.
Another option is convert to an AC system and run right up the hills. I had one come by me a couple weeks ago and he ran by my Lithium-Executioner cart like I was sitting still... |

Re: Looking to have motor rebuilt
Yea, I agree. The motor I have now was supposed to be THE TORQUE motor from D&D, but it sucks on hills.
The AC conversion sounds awesome. From what I understand I need an IQ wire harness installed on my Series cart. Bypass the OBC (except for charging). Not sure how much more $$$$ and time I want to spend on this thing. |
