Default RXV Steering wheel Play

Does anyone know how much steering wheel play is normal for an RXV?

I have about 1/2" of slop on the steering wheel rim before it engages the steering mechanism (2010 model). It seems fine when driving, but I'm wondering how much is normal.

The service manual doesn't show that it can be adjusted from what I can see.

My 2012 RXV with 215-35x14 tires has about 3/8" of play before steering engages. Not sloppy at all. I have no idea whether this normal. I hope this helps.

how are you guys measuring? by the distance side to side when moving the steering wheel? I'll have to try this tomorrow on my RXV, i know that there is a little slack before the steering moves.

Yes, I measure the side to side rotation at the rim of the steering wheel before it begins to turn the tires with a tape measure.

My 2015 has no slack. Any movement in the steering wheel causes wheel movement.

Check and make sure that everything underneath is tight. I've had a couple that the rack mounting bolts were loose.
