The seals are pretty robust.

Rear axle Fluid recommendations for my 2015 RXV don't match. I've seen 25 oz. of Mobil (Mobile 424) in service manual and also 25 oz. of Mobillube 85W-140 and 2 oz. of EZGO friction modifier! Which is correct for a 2015 RXV S/N 5357278 with manufacture code D1715? Thanks

I have a 2007 txt 2+2 with this same rear axle and I am also trying to change the fluid. Input shaft seal has been leaking so it is definitely time.

My service manual has a completely different axle design than what is actually in my cart so I am taking guidance from this thread for sure.

I’m guessing the 12 oz of 30wt my manual states is out of the question.

Btw, for those of us doing this repair, what are some good things to replace while the axle is out? Wheel bearings, seals?

New to this so any help is appreciated!

Nate

FWIW, I called Schafer Driveline who makes the rear axle for my 2015 RXV. The SD part number on the label is 012AJ602-1. I spoke to a helpful guy in engineering named Jim and he siad what they recommend is 25 oz. of Mobilfluid 424 AND 2 oz. of a friction modifier like K&W 402508 Trans-X Posi Trac Limited Slip Gear Oil Additive.
That is what I plan to use.

Myself I use Valvoline SynPower SAE 75W-140 Full Synthetic Gear Oil 25 ounces and 2 ounces of K&W 402508 Trans-X Posi Trac Limited Slip Gear Oil Additive.

Well, I may have to substitute something as I can't find Mobilfluid 424 anywhere except in a 5 gallon bucket which is overkill when you only need 25 oz.!!!

Early Rxvs had that 424 in them, it's very thin, and they were the noisiest ones. I just use regular gear lube & friction modifier. If it was good enough for every Dana/Schaffer from 1996-2007 (and many rxvs since the early versions) itll be good enough for yours too.

I called all over trying to find Mobilfluid 424 even calling Mobil. apparently the smallest quantity it is sold in is 5 gallons so I called Schaafer engineering back and asked him for an alternative and he said just get a conventional 80W-90 gear oil and add the friction modifier. He did say the 85W-140 is too thick. FWIW, thaat is the info I found

The Schafer Driveline rear axle part number is 012AJ502-1 NOT 012AJ602-1 as I previously wrote. My apologies for the mistyping.

So question to CGTECH, are you saying I should go with 85W-140 gear oil (is that what you mean by regular lube) plus the friction modiifer RATHER than the 80W-90 plus the friction modifier?
