CGTECH, thanks. I thought you were indicating the 80W-90 was too thin. My local autozone has Lucas Oil Products 80W90 HD Gear Oil 1 Quart and the K&W Posi-Trac Oil Additive friction modifier.

This thread got off track. The OP was asking about diff service on a TXT. The RXV is different in this regard and should really have its own thread on diff service. So, for future readers don't conflate the two. Electric RXVs have a limited slip diff. TXTs do not.
For years the TXT owners manual specified 30wt motor oil. Some people think gear oil should be used. 80-90 wt gear oil is approx the same viscosity as 30wt motor oil. Over the years the collective thought on this board is either is ok for the TXT. |
