Default Scotty B’s Battery Meter

This is probably a dumb question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. My old 36v battery meter had 12g wires connected straight to the battery pack. Scotty’s meter has tiny terminals and tiny wires coming off it. Instructions say it can be wired straight to the battery pack. So, do I splice the tiny wires onto the 12g wires that are already there? Are there 12g terminals that go that small? Or do I need to splice onto new smaller wire, re-run it to the battery and find a connector big enough to go onto the Battery Terminal?

Use some 20ga-22ga wires to run from the battery meter to the main positive and main negative of the pack. Connect them to the battery posts using 5/16" ring terminals that accept 20ga wire.

If you already have the 12ga wires near the meter location, just use close end crimp connectors to transition to the thinner gauge wire.

The wires are already run, so this seems like my best option.

If using crimp connectors there are a couple of options. Strip the small wire back 2 or 3 times as farther back than needed and bend the end double or triple over to fill the connector.
Or when using a small connector and snip several strands off the big wire until it just fits in the smaller connector.
Remember there is less than 1 amp in this connection. Of course solder and shrink-wrap is best.

..or use closed end cap connectors which are ideal for crimping wires of different gauges
