Stereo install with toggle switch.
Installing radio with an amplifier and adding a toggle switch for radio to cut off when not in use to help with battery life while using the cart. I have everything installed, having a problem figuring out wiring through the toggle switch. Antenna wire from stereo goes straight to amp? The yellow wire from stereo goes to converter? Red and black wire from stereo? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re: Stereo install with toggle switch.
unless its different than every thing I have ever seen....the RED is the main power to the unit, and the BLACK is the ground for it.

Re: Stereo install with toggle switch.
Actually the Yellow wire is the main "constant" power for the entire Radio and it also keeps the memory and presets (for Radios that need it) when the Radio is OFF.
The Red wire is a low current signal only used to turn the Radio On/Off. The power antenna output (Typically blue) is not the best wire to turn an amp on/off as some Radios only provide power on that wire when you are listening to the Tuner. If Your Radio has a dedicated "Remote or Amplifier Turn ON" (typically Blue/White wire) that is the correct wire to use for a Remote amp input. |

This is correct. I put my toggle on the Red wire. This should allow the radio to keep memory (a slow drain over time on the battery.. shouldn't be enough to matter). |

Re: Stereo install with toggle switch.
The red and black wire from radio are spliced together to the red and black wire from the toggle switch. The blue wire from radio will be connected to the amplifier. The yellow wire from radio will be wired directly to the yellow wire on the battery converter. The red and black wire from the battery converter will be on main/lead batteries. I’ll have one red and one black wire left on the battery converter, is this right!? Thank you for the help guys! My kids greatly appreciate it! Lol

You should only have to run your power wire (red) through the switch. |

Re: Stereo install with toggle switch.
The battery converter is one I ordered off Amazon. It’s an intelligent DC-DC converter.

Red - Pack + THIN Red (this appears to be the switched 12v output from the converter) - To one side of the switch, then the other side of the switch to the red of you radio THIN Black - Pack - Black - Ground of your radio Yellow (this appears to be the constant 12v on the converter) - Yellow (constant of your radio) |

Re: Stereo install with toggle switch.
BigCo99, It would be safer if you post a link to the actual converter you bought.
Typically a "thin red wire" would be the converter +48v trigger to turn the +12v output on/off. |
