Default 48 volt upgrade light kit question

I am in the process of upgrading my 36 volt DCS cart to 48 volts. I have just about everything complete but am now unsure on where to land the factory light kit so the headlights turn on the key switch like they always have while keeping the taillights and brake lights functioning. I do have a 12 volt reducer to add but am still scratching my head. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

the first question I would have is did you have the light kit installed the way you are talking about BEFORE you did the carts upgrade? or is this a new light kit you are installing?

This is the light kit that was factory installed when the cart was 36v. It obviously did not use a voltage reducer but just had the green wire tapped off of the back of the pack.

Thanks !

Figured out the problem ! Apparently, the voltage reducer I have is bad. It would measure 12 volts on the output until it had a load and then it would drop to zero. i had a smaller one I was able to test with this and it functions as it should. That lead me on the wild goose chase to figure out where I thought I had it wired wrong. So, I just eliminated the green tap wire completely, wired the 48v to 12v reducer straight to the battery pack and then ran the output to the fuse block. Super easy and everything works as it should. Frustrating but typical for any project I have.

Thanks for the help !
