Voltage Reducer or 12 volt Accessory battery?
Happy Monday!
I wanted your suggestions before on how you prefer to run your accessories on your carts. I Start wiring my electronics I can go either the reducer route or designated 12 volt battery route. What are the pros/cons your seeing? Only thing I see going the 12 volt battery route vs a reducer would be a bit more work when having to charge the Accesories battery separately. I only plan on wiring street legal light kit, usb port to charge cell phones, and possibly a small marine amp to run 4 speakers on the cart. I just want to do it right the first time so I am really thinking possibly over thinking everything lol. I have never gone the designated battery route so I want your input Thank you for your time! |

I would not think of using anything other than a reducer. You will not have the extra weight of the battery and no extra work to charge. They are easy to install and definitely add a fuse block.

I put reducers in about 5 carts now. They are fairly inexpensive and it's simple to install them. That's the way I would go but I am sure there is another side of the story that someone will tell.

I did a reducer on my cart and have no problems.
I have LED headlights & tails, body and roof LED lights, horn, USB charger, and 2 small 500w amps hooked up through a fuse block. |

Reducer is the way to go
Less weight,one less battery to charge independent from pack. No need for second charger. Only one charger needed. Get longer performance to 12 volt accessories useing a convertor since your drawling off multiple batteries opposed to single batteries Capacity. Add12 volt fuse block to distribute fused protection from convertor to 12 volt accessories.😊 |
