Default Sepex motor test

Working on a 36 volt sepex cart (actually a Star cart but very similar to the DCS setup). After new controller install I'm getting a "current shunt failure" (Curtis 1243 control). Testing the motor with an ohm meter I get continuity between A1&A2, F1&F2 nothing between A&F or to the casing, but when I test with voltage it seems like a dead short. Resistance between F1&F2 is .5 ohms and between A1&A2 is 0 ohms.
Can a motor pass the ohm test and still be bad?

The fix for that error doesn't include the motor. See page 72 of attached 1243 manual.

That kinda went over my head a little Johnnie. Can you help me understand that a little better? It's a new fsip controller. And shouldn't I get the motor to turn when a apply voltage to a1&f1 and a2&f2 like the sepex motor test? I just get sparks when the cables touch the batteries like it's a dead short.
What should I check or change in the settings?

Yes the motor should turn when you apply a high enough voltage to A1&F1 and A2&F2, but it is almost a short, so you could get a pretty big spark if you were using an entire battery pack. Try it using 12V or 18V.

You mentioned the Start you are working on is similar to an EZGO DCS, so her is a check list for a DCS controller (Curtis 1206SX) that includes the motor. (Maybe FSIP has a similar checklist for a Curtis 1243 controller.)

You mentioned you got 0Ω between A1 and A2, but regular ohmmeters and Ohm functions of multi-meters are notoriously inaccurate under about 10Ω, so there may be 0.5Ω or so intsead of a dead short.

It's an 07 Star Sepex. Has no speed sensor on motor. Motor and cart looks identical to the ezgo. I was using pack voltage. I'll try again with 12v. I have an OEM 1313 programmer, but the back light is out in it and it's very difficult to see. I have the stuff on the way so do it with computer software.

Tried the motor voltage test with 12 volts. Of course a lot less sparking, but no wheels turning and cables heated quickly (wheels are free turning by hand). I have also done the motor ohm test at the end of the cables also with same results, so I know there isn't a short in the cables. Should I pull the motor?

Yes. Motor sounds sick.

To lazy and tired to pull the motor tonight. Maybe tomorrow I'll pull it for inspection.
