Default Will a seat mount hitch pull my trailer

Will a seat mount hitch be strong enough to support the weight of my 5x8 utiity trailer? I'm only going to be moving it around the yard empty. I checked the specs on my trailer. The whole thing weighs about 500lbs. So I wouldn't think the tongue weight with it being empty could be that much. I've looked in a few different post but haven't really found a good ansewer for my question. Thanks

I've had no problems with mine. I pulled my 5x10 trailer with a 1000 pound bale of wet hay to the garden at my daughter's house a couple hundred yards followed up with a couple loads of chopped hay spoilage and manure. It made the cart squat a bunch, but no damage.to the rear seat or suspension. I wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis but for your use, things should be ok.

Do a Google search for EZ-GO rear bumper with trailer hitch. You should find something that will bolt up to the frame and let you do what you want.

I have towed a 16’ stock trailer with a couple hundred pounds of tongue weight and a 16’ utility trailer with no issues. I don’t make a habit of it though.

Davetm, from the measurements I've been able to find. If I do a frame mount it will sit about three inches bellow the seat foot rest. So that won't work in my situation.

Txstetson, are u using a Frame mount or a back seat mount?

I know this isn't what you want\need, but I removed the foot rest because of where I travel, it would keep hitting\scraping the ground at the bottom of small valleys etc.

I bought a "bumper" with a 2" trailer receptacle. I've hauled 6'x8' trailers loaded with wood with no issues at all.

Here's a pic.....I have a foot rest installed in the pic. Oh....ignore that groundhog that seems to be sleeping on the foot rest.

The ball is attached to the rear seat foot rest.

Thx for all the responses. I'm going to go with the one that goes under the step.
