Default Yamaha G1 oil pump and plug

Hi Folks,
Hope your having a good spring. I think I'm in the right section so have a couple of questions for you. Rebuilt my engine last winter. Keeps flooding so installing new carb tomorrow. Here's a couple of questions I have.
Q1 . Oil pump adjusting nut. How do you know when it is properly adjusted.
?? It has been loosened and tightened plus since motor has been rebuilt I'm not sure where is correct.
Q2 . Correct spark plug. In my service manual there are 2 references to the plug. On says it is a BP-5HS (NGK), that would be a RL95YC in Champion. Another section of the manual says it's a NGK BP-6HS which is L87YC in Champion. Can you advise which is reght?

Thanks and have a nice day, Bob

Hey Crazy! Q1-I've never tried to adjust the oil pump. Are you talking about the "bleeder" screw? Q2- My recommendation (and I only use) NGK-BP5HS. Hope that helped.

Hi smallblock ,
you might be right. It's the little screw on the top of the oil pump assembly. Silverr in color and, has a black plastic sheave around it. You can open and close it by hand. I should probably just turn it all the way closed, (clockwise) and go from there. thanks for the plug info.

Ha, that's the bleeder screw. Glad I could help.

Smallblock.
Thanks for your help. I got this cart for nothing a couple of years ago and now I am up to about $600.00. Get most of my parts through the internet. The local dealer is useless. For example, the needle was the part of the carb that was acting up and the dealer wanted $55.00 plus shipping for one. I got a whole new carb for $80.00 on the net.
So that bleeder screw just has to be closed (all the way clockwise). Is that right?

If you want to, open the screw (counterclockwise) and wait for gravity to purge any air out of the oil line, then just tighten it back up. 55.00 for a needle and seat? That's crazy!
