Default 2000 g16 build (motor) questions

I have a 2000 g16 that was on a nursery for a couple of years, started life on a golf coarse i assume due to the numbers on the sides.

Have refurbed the carb, new float, needle and gaskets.
painted the rims as until i can get a lift and wheels
now, after getting the carb squared i checked speed and was getting 13-14mph. did the zip tie method on the govenor and now running 18. I have read the govenor bypass method but really do not want to chance blowing the motor. is 18mph gonna be about top end for me or is there a way to eek out a couple more mph's?

Also looking through some of the pictures i notice a lot of you have different air filters/ boxes, what should i look for to help "update" the motor.

Keep in mind this cart will be used first to teach my 9 yo son how to use tools and his hands, as we will be doing all work ourselves. second use will be for boat shows and tournaments to show off our sponsors and generally look cooler than everyone else.

I am sure I will have many more questions but working the motor is first priority.

oh, and goal is to make cart match truck and boat in background...;)

Talking Re: 2000 g16 build (motor) questions

Give this a try... I have modified mine with clutch spring, air intake, header etc. But this should give you extra speed without pushing the limits of the engine. Its an easy semi bypass of the gov....

Other mods I have done:
