Mine was smoking like a son of gun after the float in the carb stuck. Turned out the muffler had alot of fuel in it. Took the muffler off and no smoke. Out it back on after washing it out with Dawn and the driving it untill it stoped smoking

I have already cleaned the carb, fuel pump, replaced fuel lines and filter. I will try the muffler trick and see if that works but I have plans to rip the motor down and bore it over this winter. Also just put on the brush guard and 4 new lights... will have picks up soon

4 lights? The generator only puts out 15 amps, so watch it on the current draw.

Mike,
Your right too much draw from the 4 lights. I and going to remove 2 and use them on my truck. I also just got 3 more G16's... I talked to the wife and she wants a red one. I was thinkin that I would lower this one and put on some low profile tires. I and in the middle of a house purchase so i'll post the new projects as soon as I start them... also some picks of the new shop.

Pete, you lucky dog! You must finally got off the naughty list! New house, shop and 3 G16's? I don't think ti gets much better than that!
And we deffently want to see pictures of it all (house shop and cars)!!
Did you get the smoking under control?
Have fun, be safe and have a Happy New Year!!

And I put LEDs in for tail lights, so all I use is about 8 and half amps... I hope. For others out there. It takes HP to pull a generator putting out 15 amps and 9HP aint much to start with.

Mike, The smoking problem is not taken care of yet. I have the engine on the bench and am going to send it out to be machined. I also noticed that the crank case gasket is leaking some oil. Not a ton but enough to put a little spot on the floor. Are these yamaha motors know for that gasket leaking or is there something else I should look for.
Thanks
Pete

Not house yet. Should close in less than 2 weeks..

Pete, I've never had one apart yet, but some one will chime in with the answer I bet!
I think if it were mine, I would put silicone, between my fingers and put a very light film around the whole gasket as I assemble it. I did that on my VW race motors, and trannys and they always stayed very clean and dry.
