Default How to get a 91' G8A runnnn'n!!

Well, five days of beating my head against the cart and six days of reading posts, I made her come alive after sitting for two years!

First, I replaced the brushes in the starter. WOW! Now, she turns over without hitting it with a hammer! Dirty job, but easy. (should have had Mike Rowe clean it) Second, I replaced the broken throttle cable and by-passed the govenor and went straight to the carb from the peddle. Third, removed all old gas/replaced with new. Fourth, replaced the spark plug - she has fire and 165 psi compression. Fifth, took carb off THREE times and cleaned....No luck, it would NOT start until 10:00 last night.

I found a post on another site - it mentioned how a tiny hole on a screw on the downtube of the carb (in the bowl) can clog up. This screw stops the float from going down further.... I removed this screw all three times while cleaning, but didn't realize it was supposed to move gas through it. I took it off last night and saw the tiny hole was packed full of dirt.

Now, the other site mentions you should drill out the hole with a .032 drill bit, but the smallest bit I have is .068, which may be too big. Anyway, cleaned out the hole, remounted the carb, and WHHAALLLA! She fired right up! So, for those frustrated souls out there, make sure your hole is CLEAN!!!

Thanks! Yea, now I need to pull the G9 into the garage next to the G8 and figure out what I can start swapping. Like the 4" lift, tires, front cowl....got to see what will fit and what I can strip!
