Default G8 motor mounts - how to change?

Hey guys. The tentioner was missing on my G8. Now, the fronts are ok, but the rear mounts are no longer connected. Rubber is broken.

My G9 motor mounts look in fair condition. The rubber is somewhat cracked, but still in tact. They also look identical to the G8 mounts.

Is there an easy way of removing and replacing the rear's? I was thinking of unbolting them, and using a rachet strap attached to the rear main cross bar (top of the cart) and ratcheting the motor up.

Would this work, or do I have to take all mounts off and move the engine sideways?

I usually just stick a floor jack under the engine and use an air ratchet.

But, isn't there a big metal skip plate under the cart that goes all the way across?

You should be able to remove the skid plate first.

Just pick up the motor with your hand after the nuts are off. Its not that heavy.

Jim, I made my own tentioner. With a 5/16 bolt and small piece of strap welded together.

Cool Re: G8 motor mounts - how to change?

Looks great mike! I welded one together also, its not pretty, but fuctional. I went ahead and bought the stock one today. Maybe it'll help with motor vibration.
So, I'll try lifting it by hand.

Got a dash cut out and installed. Got the lights mounted to the bumper I built. Used 2" L channel, welded together & painted. Here's pics before I got it all mounted and wired up.

Looks VERY good! Want to caution, generator at high speed only puts out 15 amps, and each pair of those lights, pull 8 amps. So only use one pair at a time or only for a short period of time or you will run out of battery.

Dash looks very good, You got skills bud, what do you need my imput for?

Are you gonna put a radio in it? And if so, where are you gonna put it? I need ideas if I ever do it.

Yea,they are wired up seperately w/own switches. I needed dimmer light for campground, and larger power for here at home. There was a radio and speakers in it, but they've been removed. They had the stereo mounted in the middle of the dash - thus huge cut out in the center. It didn't fit in there anyway. Now I also have to fix the holes in the cubbies too. I like the idea of mounting it with an overhead console. Seems to me, it would keep dry up under the roof. I like one or two of those pre-built consoles I've found out there, and the price isn't bad, but I'll probably build my own.
