Default ezgo pds controller???

I have an 08 pds with a 6 inch lift and 23 inch tires with stock motor and controller. Any suggestions if im safe running this or if i need to upgrade wires, controller, motor etc. This is all new to me so i could use a little help. Also, i use my cart for golf and the batteries are good but wont last for 2 rounds of golf, and the other carts i have owned have lasted all day seemed like. Any ideas.

Your batteries may not be 100%? How old are they? What is the pack voltage after a full charge? After the 1st round?
Adding 23" tires to already failing batteries will put the final nail in the coffin for them. That's a 35-40% increase in final drive ratio.....

The symptoms of "Controller Thermal Shutdown" are very similar to the symptoms of "Dead batteries."

The good news is that you cart will do about 24 MPH on those 23" tires with a stock PDS controller.
The bad news is that you've lost a lot of torque and are drawing more amps to accelerate and cruise.

Like TDAWG said, "Low Battery Voltage" cutback and "Thermal" cutback do the same thing, put the cart in a reduced performance mode.

Put the controller in daignostic mode and listen for the beep code when it misbehaves.
Attached is the label that gives the beep codes and it tells you how to get into diagnostic mode at bottom of label.

I have an '08 PDS and if I was running 23" tires, I'd also be running a 400A or 500A controller with compatible solenoid and cables.

If I needed more run-time I'd go to higher AH batteries and/or go to 48V (8 x 6V batteries - not 6 x 8V)

The cart will give 2 codes. The first code is 1-4 beeps indicating which chip or 'mode jumper' (if any) is installed. Then a pause followed by any trouble codes, as listed.
Hope this helps
