what belt size?

i just found an engine that uses a 3/4 inch belt. the rear in the cart i believe is a 1". (86 gas club car)....will the 3/4 inch belt work in the 1" driven?

I'm going to guess that it may work, but you'll have significant low end power loss, since the narrow belt will sit lower in the driven clutch at rest. Think about your bicycle, when the chain is on the smaller gear (at the wheel), it's harder to take off than when the chain is on the larger gear.
