No offense Big r, but, this... I have to see! because something doesn't seem right with your description!

Yep... the spring perch is welded to the axle from the factory, but the brake/shock bracket shouldn't be!

From top to bottom, it should be:
Axle... spring perch (welded to axle)... leaf spring... shock/brake cable bracket and the nuts for U-bolts.
The only thing that is/should be welded is the spring perch to the axle, the rest should all be held together with the U-bolts.

I'm kind of wondering (same as Fishwater) what the previous owner might have done...

Nice try CTD!

CC gassers have the clutches on the passenger side... EZ GO's have them on the drivers side!

I guess we'll just have to wait for pictures!

I'm confused too. In your first post you said you have jack stands under the axle...later you say you can't get the axle to drop....take that stands out. They should be under the frame. I just did my 99 CC DS three weeks ago. Stands at the back under the rear crossmember. I did both at the same time. Just keep a jack under the rear diff and you will be ok. Take the front and rear bolts out of the springs. Take the u bolts out, jack up on the diff and pull the spring out. If the spring doesn't fall out it could be jammed in the brackets. Hit it with a hammer. With hd springs you might need to get shock extensions. I had to with mine and I added two leaves each side.

Did you have to take a ground strap off? Forget to put it back on?

No didn't have to, seems like the belt could be too big now! It has a 1349 size on it now.

this is a gas club cart. Don't know if that would make a difference on the grounding strap idea. it runs just doesn't have the power it use to putting it in the trailer had to get a run at it to make it up ramp.
