Default how tight do i set my drive belt

I put a newer engine in my 89 club car and I need to set the drive belt. I am not sure how tight or loose to set it. I set it snug the first time and it slips real bad when pulling up a hill, so I loosened it up to give it a little slack thinking the clutch would grab it easier but that didn't help much either. I have a new belt to put on, just didn't want to burn it up trying to figure out the belt tension.

If you didn't measure the distance between the drive and driven clutch before the swap, you may have to do some trial and error to find the sweet spot. Check in the big block threads, I think I remember seeing something about the stock measurement being 9-1/2"
