Default Club Car DS Alltrax Installation help

I am putting in two Alltrax 500 Amp controllers this weekend on on my 2010 Precedent the other on my 2001 DS. There are videos out there on the Precedent looks very straight forward. The DS though is a bit sketchy.

My question is on the DS is it easier to remove the body to put the Alltrax in, or should I just crawl under it to mount it? I already have 2 gauge cables on the Curtis controller which I crawled under to put on, which was less than a pleasure, but don't want to spend 3 hours removing the rear body.

Anybody have experience on this install, youtube is lacking on this one?

Also want to give thanks to Robby and his brother at PlumQuick and David at Revolutiongolfcars for getting me squared away on what I needed to accomplish my goals for what I wanted these carts to do (get up hills). They spent a bunch of their time pointing me in the right direction, much appreciated. Robbie even suggested I didn't need their motor just more amps, which was very refreshing and where I am headed.

Thanks
Bill

Does the cart have a rear seat? I usually do it through the access panel.

The answer to your question is yes, its a helluva lot easier to deal with the electronics with the rear body removed.

I would crawl under rather than pull a rear body especially if rear seat is involved

Don't know exactly what DS you have, or exactly where you are mounting it, but removing a wheel and the inner fender makes it a lot easier.

Thanks for the input, i do have rear seat and I have been looking at it, and the removal looks lika a PITA, so going to try to get under it and remove wheel wells. Starting on it tonight, looking forward to the results.

The importance of stable jack stands cannot be emphasized enough.
But don't bet your life on them. I always put the tires I remove under the frame or battery pack in case I knock the cart off the stands I have what I call 8 inches to live.

I put my DS on my truck bed and accessed from underneath when I put in my alltrax. I reached in the engine access cover for a couple hookups. I didn't want to remove my rear seat or body.

This is so true. Jack stands seem to never fit exactly right. I use 6x6 blocks to make sure the thing can't fall all the way down. With those batteries it is a LOT of weight. Please be safe.
