New Super Duty Solenoid - no go
2001 TXT 36v Series. Installed new super duty solenoid because my cart wouldn't go and I traced all of the inputs from the key switch to the solenoid using my voltmeter as advised by JohnnieB, etc. and got full voltage at key switch, pedal micro switch and solenoid. Have an Alltrax AXE 4855 but the LED is not lighting up.
Also, the solenoid is not clicking. Is my controller fried? Last edited by benjylafond; 12-27-2014 at 02:28 PM.. Reason: forgot something |

Re: New Super Duty Solenoid - no go
Read a few more posts. Using voltmeter, with ignition switch on and pedal pushed, got no voltage from big post to big post or small post to small post. However, if I put the voltmeter on a negative battery post and test the positive small and big posts, I get pack voltage????? I've got a call into my electrical engineer neighbor, maybe he can figure it out.

Re: New Super Duty Solenoid - no go
Found one problem. It appears the 400Amp fuse from Solenoid to Controller is blown. Tested voltage from solenoid to fuse - good, tested voltage where fuse connects to controller - no voltage. I'll be ordering one of these if one of the local shops doesn't have one.
This still doesn't explain the solenoid not clicking though does it? Remember, I'm not an electrical guy. |

Bypassed fuse, still no solenoid click and no light on controller.

Re: New Super Duty Solenoid - no go
Does your AXE controller have four separate .250" push on connectors on top, or a single white Molex connector?
With a series cart, the solenoid activation circuit is what turns on the controller, so if the solenoid is not clicking when the pedal is pushed, the controller won't be turning on. Your problem is external to the controller. First place to check is the small red wire coming out of the charge receptacle. That comes from the reed switch (Charger interlock) and is the voltage source for the solenoid activation circuit. The voltage goes from the reed switch to MS-2 on the F/R assembly, to the keyswitch, to the pedal switch and then to the small terminal on the solenoid with the two red wires on it. |

Johnnie B:
I don't have a reed switch any more since I have an onboard charger. I believe I have traced all of the connections back from the solenoid to the key switch and get full voltage at all of them. My neighbor who is an electrical engineer is going to come over this afternoon to help me troubleshoot it and we'll check all of the connections again and test the new solenoid. |

Unless it was specifically eliminated, it still exists. Take the diode off the solenoid's small terminals while troubleshooting. |

Re: New Super Duty Solenoid - no go
Here is the wiring diagram for the AXE install. Concentrate on the solenoid activation circuit and the power to controller pin #1. You must have solenoid clicking and LED light on on the control (when the sol clicks) before the cart can begin to run... For best results show this post and diagram to the technician. PS- there is a micro switch (in this circuit) at the F&R & in the floor at the pedal box.
