when I take my foot off the pedal my cart feels like it brakes
All of the sudden when I take My foot off the pedal the cart feels like it brakes or hill control comes on. Electric 36v cart. 2012 year model. It's never done this before. What could be causing this? The cart is lifted but stock other than that.

brakes dragging? If it was me I would put it on jack stands and check the hubs,brakes and cables first.

I don't think that's it as its not instantly. I coast for a second or two, them it feels like I hit the brakes, slows some, then feels like it releases again.

Your lift could be the problem. The u bolts on some lifts are cheap and stretch and become loose, and the rear will twist and pull on the brake cables and apply the brakes. Check and see if anything is loose on the rear lift
