plum quick
I just talked with the guys at plum quick in SC. Thinking of having my stock motor rebuilt. Has anyone here used them and if so, is it worth the $225 to rebuild the motor to get a 20% increase.

Re: plum quick
They basically clean and recondition your motor. Maybe better brushes or....
The real questions are: 1. Do you want to spend that much to have your motor reconditioned and minor upgrades added? 2. Is, "up to" or "as much as" "20%" (3 mph if you are already getting 15), worth $225 to you? I'm not demeaning Plum Quik, they have been around a long time and I know people who swear by them. They obviously know what they are doing as I rarely see a negative comment about them. I'm just trying to get your head in the right direction. The question isn't really whether or not 20% is worth that amount. The question is, the probable results of a recondition worth it to you. For me, it was. They also found issues within the motor I did not know existed. I didn't use PQ, but the process is basic. |

Re: plum quick
IMO, it's almost worth it just for the handle they put on it.
Don't forget the shipping costs. |

Re: plum quick
What year is the motor? That is the only real question. If it's a older cart it would be well worth it to have a fresh motor back in it for the cost.
A new motor is well over $500.00! So yes it's well worth it. |

Re: plum quick
I used them for my yamaha series and got 19 mph. A stud was broken so an extra 20 or so and three weeks. It looked brand new with a nice paint job and handle.
well worth it to me! |

Re: plum quick
My cart was a 48 volt with a 36 volt motor, then I melted the S1 stud right off of it . Standing at the cross roads i went one step further and had them build me a new motor instead of re building the old one. I chose the new one for it would be able to handle the 700 amp controller better.

This is a world where we pay $100's to $1000's to go an extra mph - so yes, it's worth it |

Re: plum quick
Sometimes we pay much more to get what we want and have some nice surprises as well as learning a lot about our carts.
I would consider upgrading the motor unless you are happy with the performance off a stock system. (most are not, we want something better), that is why we are here... |
