12 Volt Accessory battery
I have the SOC chart...
How low is it safe to take a 12 Volt Accessory Battery down to before needing a recharge? Wanting to get the most out of the battery and not have to replace it every year. It is a 35AH deep cycle AGM battery used for my lights. Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

S.O.C. chart
Looks like 12.10v is bare minimum. |

Re: 12 Volt Accessory battery
The care and feeding of a 12V accessory battery is essentially the same as the batteries in the main pack.
Never discharge below 50% Soc and for maximum lifespan, keep as fully charged as possible and practical. |

Re: 12 Volt Accessory battery
This should give you an idea of what to expect as far as "Depth of discharge- vs- battery life". The numbers may not be a 100% perfect match, but close enough for compairason.

Re: 12 Volt Accessory battery
Unless the battery is specifically a deep cycle battery the battery in question is a starting or cranking battery. Starting batteries have different construction characteristics than deep cycle. Cranking batteries have thinner plates than deep cycle batteries. The thinner plates hold less amperage in reserve and they are designed to deliver more amperage faster than a deep cycle. Think of their intended application, motor starting = quick discharge and then an immediate recharge. And running lights and accessories right? Yeah with the charge system running... So whatever you do, keep that sukka charged up.

The battery that I have for my Accessory Battery is an AGM 35AH deep cycle Duracell ultra 12V sealed lead acid battery.
Hope this battery is the right for my needs and holds up...just running my lights off it. I have a Noco charger for it. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: 12 Volt Accessory battery
I see you have a deep cycle battery.

Follow up question...
I have a Noco charger that is a 1.1 Amp charger. It seems like it takes a long time to charge the battery when it was down to around 80% SOC. I think it took better part of a full day. Is that because it is a 1.1A charger? Would it be safe to charge this AGM 35AH deep cycle with a 3.5amp charger? Somewhere I thought i read it's better to charge it with a smaller amp charger and 3.5 would be too much? Any advice? Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: 12 Volt Accessory battery
Typically "C x .3" (30% of rated capacity) is suggested for smaller SLA batteries, so a charger up to 9.5 amps should be just fine.

Not sure about this Noco genius charger.
I just put a DVM on my 12 Volt and get 13.35 while the Noco is charging. However, the Noco is blinking that it is 50 percent charged. Maybe 50% represents not the battery SOC, but the overall charging process completed... Not real sure. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |
