It's definitely a 2000 model. Do you have a rocker switch or lever for the Forward/Reverse switch?

People do put 36v worth of batteries in 48v carts, it's happened here at BTW several times...

Unless he has room for two more 6 volt batteries...
He said batts are less than a year old.
Probably been over charged quite a bit though.

Thanks guys, your ways of thinking are very similar to mine!!

Luckily I haven't actually put any money into this yet, and the guy selling the cart is a dealer. He told me he is going to try and return the 6v's for a USEABLE core and get a credit toward the new 8v's.

That being said, likely he will put new 8v's in there and still ask the original $1300 that he wanted from the start.

And yes, Kashmir, the batteries have been overcharged quite a bit. They were boiled down pretty good!

Ill let you guys know what we figure out. Thanks for all the help here!!

Charging a 36 volt pack with a 48 volt charger would explain cooking off water from the cells. Running a 48 volt system with 36 volts worth of batteries would explain the poor performance. You might be able to get away with adding 2 more 6 volt batteries, which would be the cheapest option- if you can arrange a space to put them. Crash's idea of the bagwell may be a functional solution. I worry a little about the condition of the existing batteries though. Low water, overcharging & long intervals between charging are not giving me a good feeling about their health. Of course the alternative is a set of correct batteries ($$$). Could still be a good deal if the seller is willing to work the price accordingly.

rotus623,
Wow, I know I am a relative newbie here, but I have never heard of this fop before.
It never ceases to amaze me how someone can spend that amount of money to do something so insanely wrong.

Hope it works out that you can get the cart for a reasonable price with the battery's it needs and deserves.
