cut the meter hole in the insert and super glued it in the face of old meter
if i remember right i had to work the black plastic inside and pull it back before gluing
i do remember taking guts out by removing the nuts off back and pulled junk out and drilling a hole for the wires in the back
then i ran some wires off the digital meter and fished them through hole and snapped in meter and remounted old meter in the round hole
i have not done one since then but that's what i remember

Smooth,,,very smooth! My meter can be flush mounted if you remove the faceplate and cut a rectangle hole, but since I already had the round hole like you, I surface mounted it as the unit has a round body with a big nut to hold it in a dash panel.

dundeebarnbuggy, in your picture you have a speed/torque switch. Is that for show, or do you really have that option? If you do, what does it take to get that type of magic so as to have the best of both worlds?

I was just reading about that on scottyb's site

http://www.cartsunlimited.net/shift-on-the-fly.html

It's called "Shift on the fly". Looks good. Basically, you can switch between saved programs. So you configure one program for speed and the other for torque and switch between them on the go.

Mine has a 1268 Curtis controller. Torque mode kicks up the field amps for heavy towing or tough going. Tops out at 12mph or so.

I did wrap mine in carbon fiber though.

How did you wrap the plastic?
