Default Charging issues

I have a 1983 48V club car. When I put the charger on, the chargers breaker pops. After some trial and error with other chargers and golf carts, and installing new batteries, I've determined that the charger is working fine.

Before buying new batteries, the battery on the rear of passenger side was bad. Batts were 3 years old so I just changed them all out. Now, when I try to charge with the Power Drive charger, again the breaker trips.

Out of curiosity, I took a multi meter to all batteries. All of the batteries, except one, were at 8.7 volts or more. The only battery that was low was the same battery spot that from the previous batteries where the batt was bad. This new battery read 7.9 on the multi meter.

I took a 12V car charger to it to try to bring it up to 9.0V, but, it only made it to 8.7 before the car charger tripped.

Any advice or direction I can look to clove the carving problem?

Thanks in advance.

Post your serial number, I'm thinking a 1983 cart is a 36 volt cart.
I am having the same issue with a Powerdive 1 charger, keeps blowing the circuit breaker on the charger. I'm going to put a 15 amp blade fuse in place of the circuit breaker, if it doesn't blow that fuse I will just replace the circuit breaker. If it DOES blow the 15 amp fuse, I will get a charger rebuild kit from Revolution Golf Cars and be done with it.

Sounds like you are only trying to charge 6 batteries. Make sure the red ire from the charge port goes to the last battery on the passenger side positive post.
