Default 1990 simple upgrades?

I have a 1990 Electric Club Car 36v.
Ser. No. A9043227900
It is all original.
We installed new batteries a couple of years ago, they are in good shape and check out fine.
The cart goes very very slowly up hills on our golf course, which is its only use.
I am not interested in changing wheels/tires, merely increasing power on hills and maximizing use (36 holes instead of 1.
What upgrades would be economical and recommended?

How did it do when you first put new batteries in it. Could be new Trojans would help a lot.

When we put the new NAPA batteries in a few years back, it was slightly better. Mainly ran longer. It has always crawled up hills and even slight inclines. And I mean crawl. After doing some research on these forums and elsewhere, this is not normal. I realize it is 27 years old, but the batteries test out ok and we have properly maintained them. What do I check/upgrade next?

I'm no guru on that model cart, heck I'm not any kind of guru, but I would think if you upgrade to a 48 volt system that motor will increase speed and torque by 1/3 rd.

You would need a 48 volt solid state conversion to get what you are looking for. You could keep your existing 36v motor.

I have exactly the same model. Couldn't get more than 8MPH out of it but it would climb hills fine. Check all connections and clean your vglide to start. If this doesn't improve things, ScottyB will be the answer. I upgraded mine to the 500A Alltrax with the HD F/R and Solenoid. What a difference that made. Consistently 15MPH now on flat ground and lots more torque. Let me know if you go that route and I'll send you my cheat sheet.
