Default Need help understanding Club Cart charger display.

I have a 2006 Club Car precedent and new batteries a few years ago.

Even when I just charged the cart the day before, I plug back in the next day and it takes some time to charge.

Here's a photo of the charger when I first plug in. What do the numbers in the photo actually mean?

I'd like to understand this.

Please help. Thanks.

That is simply the DC (Direct Current) amps being displayed that are being delivered to your battery pack. That charger is a big transformer that is taking A/C current and delivery DC current to your 48 volt battery pack.

It is being controlled by your carts OBC.

Any time you operate it you should plug it back in as soon as you park it. The OBC will replenish your pack for the appropriate energy units that are required. (actually about 110%)

I became concerned as I did not charge the cart over the winter.

Just plugged the charger in recently and the cart probably took about 2 days to fully charge. The needle was far to the right between 10 and 15.

I checked the fluid levels and it seems okay now though.

Anything else I should be doing?

You should either leave the charger plugged to the cart over the winter so it does a maintenance/storage charge or disconnect the pack negative cable so there is no drain on the pack.

And be sure it fully cut off as it should not go beyond 16 hours with out timing out and shutting off. If it runs at very low amps or right at "0" and does not cut off, that is a sign the OBC has failed or is failing. If after 16 hours it times out, just unplug and replug it and let it complete the charge.

As Sergio mentioned, it should remain plugged in for its maintenance cycle every ~15 days to keep the pack healthy or you can get you a battery maintainer (trickle charger) or completely disconnect it, but know the batteries will have an inherent self-discharge over time.

I did exactly that, Sergio, (Unplugged the pack Negative for the entire Winter) Came back in April and every battery was over 8V. Plugged it back in , put the tow/run switch in run and put f/r in f and off I went.
