Default Throttle cable adjustment direction

Hey everyone,
I am working on a club car DS- 1993 for my sister and am reading a lot about throttle cable adjustments. Can someone explain what brining the threads more into the box does and what letting it out does? The way this car came, it appears most of the threads are on the outside of the box. I am wanting to be able to have a slower cruise speed for at horse shows without starting and stopping, but still be able to boogie along when the moment allows for this. Thank you very much for any advise you can pass on.

The tighter the cable the faster it will go, however if it is too tight it won’t idle or run slow. It is also possible the idle screw is too far out. Okay my version of how to adjust the throttle on a club car. Jack up the rear. Put it in neutral and maintenance mode, pull the spring loaded round plastic piece behind the shifter back and spin it until it drops back in. Now loosen the throttle cable at the pedal box enough where you can slide it out of housing. Now push the pedal and the cart should start and idle. Make sure the tension on the throttle cable is still loose and won’t affect the idling. If it is idling too fast adjust the idle screw until it does. Now turn the key off and slide the throttle cable back in to the box. Adjust its tension such that the throttle plate starts to move just after you hear the micro switch click in the throttle box. Turn the key back on and test. Adjust to your liking and put it back together. Now take it out of maintenance mode, pull spin, drops back in and drive it. Top speed is adjusted by the spring tension at the governor.

Alright thank you I’ll give it a try sometime today. Does it just tighten and loosen with the nut on the outside of the case or is is more involved than that? That’s a picture of it’s location now.

There is a nut on both sides of the plastic box. Again it should be set such that the throttle does not move until after it clicks.
