Best bang for torque
I know this has been discussed but was looking for more recent opinions.
Just finishing up my 94DS vglide upgrade, mechanically I did the SR48500 kit with HD F/R, Solenoid, Controller and 2Gauge wires. 4" double A arm lift with 20x10 tire / wheel combo. Currently using stock series motor running 36V. I have the controller set to a high torque curve currently and torque is ok but I notice quite a difference when adding a second person so I am thinking about my next move. I have the lester charger 36/48V already so would you upgrade to 48V with new batteries and resistor ($800) or a new AMD beast torque motor ($600) and stay 36V? |

Re: Best bang for torque
You need to get to 48v to get your cart up to what it is capable of. With that motor GROT is about 33% more speed and torque.

Re: Best bang for torque
Basically with higher voltage, you do more work with fewer amps.
The same motor will have more power, and run longer on 48V than it will on 36V. More voltage = more power. Less amperage = longer power. Go for the battery upgrade first. Your current 36V motor will run on 48V. It will surprise you how much more power it has with the 48V supply. Make sure your Alltrax is mapped for the motor you currently have, so you don't overpower it and cook it right off the bat. |

Re: Best bang for torque
The General Rule Of Thumb was always about ~33% more speed and torque for going up to 48v with the stock 36v motor.... (People use to look around for 36v motors to install in their 48v carts!)

Re: Best bang for torque
Thanks guys, now to decide on batteries, so much talk about it its hard to decide.
My current 6V crowns have 225 AH, the trojan T-875 has only 170AH and the US has similar to crowns but hear they have leaking issues. Are trojans still good, seems like my best price in Michigan but someone mentioned they were sold out and cheapend up? |
