Lester Summit 2
I bought a lester summit 2 charger for my CC with OBC. I know if I want to use it off board with the CC plug I will need to bypass the OBC. What if I decide to mount the charger in the cart and hard wire it to the batteries, will I still need to disable the OBC?

Re: Lester Summit 2
Yes, you still need to bypass the OBC regardless. The OBC can put the cart controller in lockout if it does not sense that a Stock Club Car Powerdrive charger has been plugged in on the sense wire for the OBC.
Bypassing and removing the OBC all together eliminates that. When you have the Summit II hooked up, be sure to use the Charger Connect App to update the charge profile to match the battery brand and type that you have in the cart. |

Re: Lester Summit 2
So in preparation of the arrival of the new charger, I did the OBC bypass. 2012 Excel cart.
I cut the black wire from the back of the OBC that ran to the DC receptacle, installed a ring terminal and connected it to the pack negative battery terminal. Then cut and spliced the blue and white wire at the connector on the OBC. Am I missing anything? What about the grey sensing wire, am I supposed to do anything with that? |

Re: Lester Summit 2
You can use it for the interlock function of the new charger if you'd like that option. That way the cart controller goes to lockout while the charger is connected, which keeps it from being driven away with the charge cord plugged in.
If you don't need/want that function. Just pull apart the yellow fuse holder near the charge receptacle and remove the fuse. Tie the short grey wire from the receptacle off to the side out of the way. At this point you can completely remove the OBC if you'd like. |

Re: Lester Summit 2
I would like to use the interlock option, since I have two young kids that in time will start taking the cart out. What do I need to do to keep this function, keep in mind for now it will be an off board charger using the DC plug in receptacle on the cart. Thanks for all of the replies.

Re: Lester Summit 2
Which version did you get? The 650 or the 1050?
For the interlock function You'll use the Grey wire in the Receptacle. Cut it at the OBC connector. Connect it to the Blue wire from the controller. You'll need a 10kOhm 1 watt resistor to connect between the white wire and the blue wire. This provides the 48+ input voltage to the controller to keep it out of lockout during operation. When the charger is plugged in it will pull the blue wire to ground which activates the controller lockout. See this post for a diagram and link for the correct resistor if you need it. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1577635 |

You'll have to log in to it via bluetooth and the app to select which batteries you have.
