Looking for brakes but thoroughly confused ...
So I own what I thought to be a 2015 Yamaha Electric Golf Cart. I bought this cart about a year ago and the brakes are making some noise and may be in need of replacing. Doing a significant amount of research on this forum and elsewhere (general googling), it appears that 2015 models have a transaxle brake.
While I haven’t removed the wheels, it does appear my cart has drum brakes in the rear (visual inspection by looking from the ground). It does not appear there are any brake components on the front wheels. If I truly have a transaxle brake, why would I experience brake noise from the rear wheels? I also feel like I need to push the pedal fairly hard to stop and I’ve already attempted to adjust the brake cable leading from the brake pedal. Can anyone help me or shed some light. I can definitely remove the rear wheels to be certain. If I do have drum brakes with shoes, I also couldn’t find any parts online for newer models (it appears 2016’s have drum brakes - but couldn’t find any shoes?). Help :) |

I would adjust the brakes at the wheel, with the cables disconnected, then adjust the cables to allow the pedal to be reconnected. Pedal play should be about 1.75".

I think 2015 has drum brakes. But it should be pretty obvious. Where does the brake cable go? Is there just one cable going to the transaxle or are there two cables; one to each wheel?

There are definitely 2 cables, one going to each wheel. Knowing that, how do I go about finding the right set of brake shoes to replace these? Again, I’ve struggled to find parts online ... Every site lists something similar: Quote:

Then you have drum brakes. That’s a good thing. I’m not sure if it uses the standard golf cart sized brake shoes or not. Most golf carts use the same shoes, including Yamahas before the YDRE.

Looking for brakes but thoroughly confused ...
I have used ezgo/club car brake shoes on G2/G9 carts several times. That’s why I’m wondering if they returned to “standard” in 2015?
