Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
If I buy the full assembly of the rear transaxle does it come with the axles? So would it be an easy swap?

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
A full assembly is hub to hub, you supply the lug nuts, rubber vent tube, and motor. It's quite easy if you have jack and stands. Costs about $1050 retail, but can be found cheaper than full retail. Shipping will likely be murder, comes on a pallet in a semi.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Pretty good deal, especially since they are taking it in the shorts on shipping.
That "-04" in the part number tells me that it's the 4th and final revision of that axle, and should have a "green tag" (the part number sticker on the axle housing is green, and that's how I identify them. Only the "white tag" was a turd). It will have some other very minor cosmetic differences, but don't worry, it all bolts up the same. Your sticker is on top of the rib of the passenger side axle tube, next to the oil fill plug. |

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
-00 is "white tag" first revision. (poopy, same gear failed every time)
-01 is "yellow tag" second revision (not big problems, no "I already know what it's gonna be" parts) Aside from the white tag axles, what I actually see fail the most on those is the aftermarket high speed gears ring gear, because it's soo thin compared to the stock gear. |

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
If I buy a whole new transaxle assembly, do you know if there is a market to buy my current one? I know it will depend on area but was wondering if it was common.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Nope, believe it or not, the market to buy an axle that has had metal shavings through every single bearing and gear is surprisingly slim... You could strip it and scrap the aluminum case.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Well it looks like it's my motor and not my rear end. The teeth in the motor is smooth.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Time for a new motor. Make sure there’s no damage to the input shaft after that happened.
