Default G22 solenoid

I helped a friend diagnose his non running 2002 G22 36v today and found the solenoid was bad. We replaced it and got his cart running but I am curious as to whether it is supposed to have a pre charge resistor and diode on it. The original one did not have either. I am not familiar with Yamahas as I have a Club Car DS and an EZ Go Medalist and they both have resistors and diodes on the solenoid. What say the Yamaha experts?

Well, since there is no such thing as a 36v G22, it's real hard to say.

But, 48v G22e with stock controller didn't have them, aftermarket controllers usually do have them.

Yeah, in doing some research today I'm wondering if the serial and model number that's on the cart has been transplanted with the body? It is definitely a 36v system with a lever style F/R switch by your leg and the charger has a crows foot plug on it. So I assume it doesn't need them either?

You likely have G14e or G16e. Factory controller didn't use diode & resistor on solenoid.
