Two different manuals here. 85, and older only have the reverse buzzer switch in the FnR switch. A neutral safety switch was added after that.

Looks like the solenoid is activated all the time the ignition switch and limit switch are closed. Wouldn't that make the S/G in the starting mode?

As the engine gets up to speed, the starter begins producing power, and becomes the generator. That's why you absolutely require a continuous duty solenoid.

OK, I'm still a little confused. Let me tell you the whole story. I have a Tee Birdie with a Kohler engine and a starter generator. I want to add the limit switch to the accelerator so will work as my ole 2 cycle ez-go carts do. Right now my ignition switch has off, turn 1 click ignition is hot, turn one more S/G starts turning engine, release and it goes back to hot ignition and keeps running. While running if I were to turn up to start, would that hurt anything? That is the way I see it would be with the limit switch closed. Another way to put it is when I turn my key to start if I just held it there would be the way the ez-go would be. Hope I make my self clear in what I want to do.

I have never heard of a Tee Birdie, and have no idea how they are wired.

I will say this, If it is the original key switch, and it snaps back after starting, it's probably not a generator. It sounds like a straight starter to me.

I am currently working on my neighbor's Suzuki quad runner. It has a starter, and a magneto in the flywheel that is the generator. You might want to do some research on your engine model.

EDIT: Is your starter belt driven, and does it continue turning while the engine is running?

If this is what you have, everything is discontinued. Don't burn anything up by experimenting.

Yes starter is belt driven and it continues to turn all the time. It looks like a S/G on old ez-go. So on the ez-go does the S/G stay in starting mode all the time it is running?

It consumes power from the battery as a starter. When the engine spins it faster, it produces power, and charges the battery. That's when it becomes a generator.

So yes. it continues spinning, but no, it is no longer a starter. It's a generator.
