Default Any Alltrax SR gurus out there???

I know I can contact Alltrax - and I probably will after this post, (they have great customer service)...

I have the SR72500 on my ezgo 36v series cart, has big wires, sw180, HD F/R switch yada-yada-yada. I know its overkill for how I use the cart, but it was a deal I just could not pass on... and I needed a controller as my son fried ours pulling a 4-wheeler out of the creek (yes had to go get both of them)

Installed a XCT on neighbors PDS cart and noticed the green light comes on at key on. Which seems to be "normal".

QUESTION:
My SR controller's green light only comes on when I hit the go pedal.
In other words, I turn KEY ON - no light, KEY ON in Forward or reverse - no light. The green status light only comes on with KEY ON and when I step on the throttle. Key OFF, nothing happens as you would expect.
This has NEVER been a concern due to it doing its job of going when we step on the throttle. Should I be concerned with this or just keep joy riding as we have been for several years???

Definitely not an expert, but my brand new SR dos exactly that. I wouldn’t be worried.

The XCT and SR are both acting normally.

Here's a schematic of an SR in a series drive with Solenoid/Controller activation highlighted. The controller's KSI input is in parallel with the solenoid coil, so pedal switch has to close before the SR powers up. In other words, the controller shuts down when you lift your foot on the pedal and powers up when you push on the pedal the same as the solenoid does.

The XCT is an entirely different animal since a sepex drive is a very different animal than a series drive. In a nutshell, the controller controls the solenoid and if the solenoid contacts opened while regen braking was occurring, the voltage being generated by the motor would skyrocket and over volt the controller, very likely taking it out. So the controller has to stay powered up regardless of pedal position or F/R position.

FWIW: With a stock PDS controller, you had to have a direction selected and the key on for the controller to be powered up. That created an issue since the controller shut down whenever the driver switched the cart's direction. Alltrax corrected that oversight when they designed the XCT, which turns on and off with the key regardless of F/R selection.
