Default How to replace brushes? EZGO Sepex

I have an EZGO Sepex motor. One of the wires has burnt and disconnected from the brush. Is there a guide on how to replace them?
IMG_6556.jpg
I have the motor off the cart and the case apart. Do I need to remove the armature from the 'cap' to replace the brushes?

The motor is actually an AMD motor upgraded by EMP, not D&D like I said earlier.

Thanks

Here are pictures of a Hitachi sepex motor, where i replaced the brushes w. holder. The commutator has to be off for inspection / cleaning.

Thanks. How did you remove part A from B? And what are the correct names for part A and B?

On my motor, there is a snap ring retainer near the bearing. I haven't removed that yet.

Different motors have different methods of fastening the armature to the bell end. There is a fragile magnet on the end of the armature shaft that you have to be careful not to break. (part of the motor speed sensor) You can get a drawing from D&D of your motor assembly.

Thanks. I just found out it is an AMD motor, not D&D like I said earlier.
I have the magnet off, it was held on by 1 screw.

A is the armature, the front part the commutator. B i'd call end cap. On the Hitachi it's hold by 2 screws, probably by a snap ring on yours.

You can use a 3-jaw 8 inch gear puller to remove the armature if you run into problems getting it off. It's almost like it was made for that motor. That's the same motor I have. It turned what looked like the toughest part of replacing my brushes into the easiest part. Probably 35 dollars or so at amazon. Think I got mine for half that at harbor freight or somewhere like that.

Thanks! Looks like they loan them out at my local Oreilly Auto Parts! https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/evertough/tools---equipment/rental-tools/pulley---gear-rental-tools/338774872d18/rental-tools-evertough-pulley-gear-puller/ren1/67022

Just a heads up, that says 7 inch. My 8 inch was about maxed out to get it done. That might work but dont be surprised if it's too small

Did have to move up to the bigger one.....but they just did it there for me. It was tight!
So....to put it back on, do I need a press? Should I clean up the commutator a little? If so, how?
