G2 smoking
Ok so here goes. I bought another G2 today for the motor because I toasted mine. I repaired the wiring harness to get it running and found that it blows white smoke till warm. I have changed the oil w/ new stuff already. Smokes till it warms up then only smokes a little bit.

Re: G2 smoking
Have you done a compression check? Sounds like either bad valve guides or rings. Is it using much oil in a days run?

Re: G2 smoking
Have not done a compression check yet. Not sure on the oil usage since I just bought it. I know the cart has been sitting awhile so I swapped out my carb and gas tank to get it running. The buggy runs great just blows white smoke. After it gets good and warm it stops smoking. I will check compression andget back to you later.

Re: G2 smoking
It may just be burning off some excess fuel/oil built up in the muffler. Did your oil ever smell like gas or anything? Make sure you don't overfill the crankcase either. The dip stick on these will or can misread. One quart only. If you go by the dipstick, it will usually read full at 1.5 to 2 quarts. This will cause the oil to overflow from the pvc into the air box and carb. and then smoke.

Re: G2 smoking
Checked compression, it's 120 psi. The oil did smell of stale gas which is another reason I changed the oil before running it. Also I know it only takes 1 quart so that's all I added. I also noticed it smokes excessively until it gets warm.

Re: G2 smoking
Sounds like its just burning some fuel/oil mixture that got left or pushed in the muffler at some time. Keep a check on your oil level and notice if the smoking starts to go away. That's good compression too. I'd also make sure the oil doesn't smell like gas again, etc...

Re: G2 smoking
Thanks Spriddle. I'll do just that. We'll see how it goes after I drive it for awhile. Have no choice since I don't have the money for a rebuild right now.
