A G2 has a 7-pin ignitor. A G9, if I remember correctly, has 9 pins. A G2 has a roundish solenoid viewed from the top. A G9 has the squarish solenoid, again viewed from the top. The roof pillars are also different.

I've got the gas tank off, and the ignitor is on the side of the gas tank, it has 9 pins and looks like it has a Mitsubishi emblem on it

well if ya can,t scrape that crap off the frame support to get the serial# its gonna boil down to does it have the aluminum moulding around the front cowling? or is it Rubber coated, I think another clue is the spot for your reverse lever/ignition, on the G-2 i think its recessed panel about 1/4 inch, think the G9 was smooth panel if i recall, don,t quote me on that though, the G2 also took 16.5 x 6.5-8" tires on a 5 bolt rim,i know G-14 and up takes 4 bolt 18inch tire, not sure on the G-9. Also try the Engine serial # should be stamped directly below the oil Fill hole, first 3 letters/digits are for Model #,get those should be a start.

This thing has a homemade airbox, and holes drilled in the oil cap for some reason. Can someone tell me if the original airbox that came on these breathes from the bottom, or if it is completely sealed up everywhere?

do these things suppose to pull up a steep hill the same speed on level ground? i used gps and it only goes about 9MPH top on level ground, and pulling a steep hill it feels like its going like 4 or 5 MPH

It sounds like its time to invest in a tune up... Post another thread in the gas yamaha section and maybe someone will know why it is so sluggish!

Actually, from looking at the cowl trim, although it's all orange, the trim looks to be that of a G2.
Xo, We've made suggestions as to what difference the two have as far as cowl trim and A-arms, can you tell us what the trim is made of ???

You also should not have holes in your oil fill cap, that will cause a loss of crankcase pulse and that is what operates the fuel pump.
