Lifting the rearend of a G1
i have a 1980 g1 and it has a utility bed on it. all stainless steel so it is heavy. when i put stuff in bed it drops very fast. im looking for an easy 2-4 inch rearend lift. stock shocks are j10-22210-00. anybody know what the upgraded and upsized shock would be or an easier way to lift it with the shocks it already has.

Re: Lifting the rearend of a G1
the problem with that is that the stock shocks would still be bottomed out with the load (they would just be higher). a pair of 400ex (4 wheeler)front shocks have a little heavyer springs and lift the back end about 4" so they would probly work about perfect. I have a pair on the front and rear of my G1 and with them in the stock location they are to stiff for my cart (no bed or anything). but with the front ones laying at about a 15-20 degree angle its perfect and soft. I will be laying the back ones down a little to get them softer but for what you want mount them up normal and youll be set

Try the G1 electric shocks. Stiffer as they are designed to carry the heavier deep cycle batteries.

Re: Lifting the rearend of a G1
The shocks bottom out? Are they shot or way to much load then they can handle? TNG, Thanks for the picture of the upper shock extention That's what lift kits use, with a cross brace and they sem to work?

Re: Lifting the rearend of a G1
I used air shocks for ford van with a limiting strap so it can only go so high. That way can can adjust for the load or ride you want...
