g9 loss of power
I have a 92 g9 that backfires when I floor it. I rebuilt the carb but it seems to balk and not have its old top end. When I pull the choke it picks up speed when accelerating but when running flat out and you pull the choke it bogs down. I disconnected the fuel pump and ran it with a gravity tank with no difference so it rules out the fuel pump.
It runs ok with the back wheels jacked up but under load it bogs down. Any ideas? new carb? I changed float, needle and main jet. At top end needle adjustment does not affect speed (rpm). I also replaced plug, fuel filter, air filter. Any ideas appreciated. Dave |

Re: g9 loss of power
These motors are sensitive to air leaks at the air filter cannester.
remove the cannester and make sure the rubber gasket is in the lid, and that the lid is installed correctly on the lower section. Then make sure there are no tears or holes in the large hose to the carb. |
