Help with 2001 TXT
My 2001 TXT will run good, but after a while if you take your foot off the pedal it won't do anything. If you sit there a while it will work again but take your foot off the pedal and same thing. When it happens there is no audible click of the solenoid, battery voltage is good, there is quite a bit of heat at the lugs on the f/r switch. Cart has 6" lift with 22" tires 400amp Curtis controller and heavy duty solenoid. All wires have been replaced using 4 gauge wire. Wondering if the problem is the f/r switch because of the heat or maybe solenoid or controller which neither gets hot. Any help appreciated!

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
Odd problem... but if you have not already you need to upgrade the switch or the switch cam .....

I do plan on it, I was actually looking at your cam upgrade and lugs, but would like to find out whats going on if possible first.

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
400 amp Curtis controller is not original, what is the story behind it?

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
Next time your cart stops running, try holding a little pressure on the F&R handle in both directions. In other words, not quite all the way in forward and not quite all the way in reverse. If you get your cart to run like this, then you know it is in your cam. On lifted carts, those stock F&R assemblies wear out pretty quick. I agree with going with a HD one for sure.

Not sure, Came in the cart when i bought it used. It came out of an industrial plant so I dont know if it could be a commercial series if that even exists.

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
Tdawg, I have wiggled the f/r switch before and it has worked a few times but not often. As long as you keep your foot on the pedal it wont stop.

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
YOu can try to wiggling, pull/push the lever to change the contact pressure. Or you can just tighten the center pivot shaft nut (9/16th) about a half to 3/4 of a turn and see if that Keeps it from happening... my guess is that this is some type of thermal shutdown, if the F&R isn't failing.

Re: Help with 2001 TXT
I keep the cart at my deer lease and am planning a trip this weekend. I have tried tightening the center nut but at the time was short on tools and only had a Chinese cresent wrench and tight work area. This time I will tote my tool box with some spare parts. I have a feeling with the heat at the switch and the wiggle issue it's the cam/lugs.
