Default 1991 ez-go travel problem

Got a 1991 ezgo and the solenoid clicks but it will not travel. They was a diode between the 2 big terminals of the solenoid and it broke. The cart worked before that but will not run.Is this the problem and where can i get one of those diodes?

The diode goes between the small posts on the solenoid and a resistor goes between the large posts. You can get the diode at Radio Shack for $1.75 and it is polarity specific. I cant remember which way right at the moment but can find out as soon as the rain allows me to get to my truck. I haven't found the resistor at Radio Shack but most of the fine sponsors on here will be glad to sell you one.

As Gresham said, if it was between the 2 large posts, that was a resistor, not a diode.

As for the actual diode, the silver stripe goes towards positive.

Now then, regarding your cart, the cart should run with or without the diode or the resistor. Since the cart is not running I have to ask if you have a digital multimeter to run the tests needed to determine the actual problem with the cart?

Does the solenoid click?

Did you check the output of the pot before you put it in and why did you think you had to change the pot to begin with?

solenoid is working right.changed the pot box because when you press the throttle it was wide open at ny position.Test the old pot and the readings were all over the board.
