1988 gas club car horn and lights ground
I working a cart, the horn and lights are not working. There is power to the light switch. I checked the switch and it is also working properly. Can anyone tell me where the ground wire for the lights and horn is attached to the frame?
The braided cable from the engine to the frame is good. The ground for the starter is also good. I've checked all the fuses in the solenoid box(4 of them). The reason I think it could be a ground is because I accidentally grounded out the switch and I saw a flash from the head lights?! I have also taken a 12v to all the lights and they all are good as far as bulbs. Thanks for any help you can give. JC |

It has a 10,15, and two 20 amp fuses. Not sure what they are for. I have no manual. Lights are factory, with a dimmer switch on the floor. thanks for the quick response.

Re: 1988 gas club car horn and lights ground
Keep in mind some lights use the mounting bracket as a ground also. Old school trick take a Jumper wire and ground it to neg. terminal on battery then touch it to the mounting bracket with the light switch on and see if that turns them on. If it does then just make a ground wire that goes from each light to the frame. making sure it is to steel not aluminium.

Re: 1988 gas club car horn and lights ground
@bonecracker Thanks. I thought about that also, but after looking these are defiantly OEM lights. They are snapped in place in the plastic body. Each light has three wires. I'm assuming for High beam, Low beam, and ground. My next step is to find out which one is a ground wire and take it straight to NEG.
Thanks, JC |
